Motherhood is chaotic.
Some days are filled with unicorns and fairy dust, and some days the unicorn craps on your brand new rug and the fairies are flying around, crashing into walls. Mainstream parenting books help with the unicorn and fairy dust days, but what happens when your kid drops the f-bomb in a crowded grocery store?
That's where Tatted Mom's Guide to NOT Screwing Up Your Kids comes into play, tackling situations in motherhood that you were definitely not warned about. Think of this book as your manual to the parenting problems that leave you throwing your hands up in the air, wondering if you are the only mom who goes through this craziness, and has you hiding in the back of your closet with a bottle of Moscato and a cheesecake (we've all been there).
Tatted Mom's Guide to NOT Screwing Up Your Kids includes
~The myths that mainstream parenting books tell you, and how they don't apply to every mother.
~How to deal with temper tantrums from toddlers to tweens.
~How to "win" the various battles you will have with your children (like the Personal Hygeine Battle and the Clothing Battle)
~Tips on dealing with picky eaters and the difficult potty trainee.
~Helping build your tween's self esteem and creating a strong family unit.
~Motherly advice on parenting from birth until the tweenaged years (around 12 years old)
~Mom Competition, unplugging your kids, chores, peer pressure and more!
Written by an unconventional, tattooed, colorful mother whose out-of-the-box parenting tips have proven successful for many families, regardless of parenting style, Tatted Mom's Guide to NOT Screwing Up Your Kids weaves together helpful advice with humorous stories from the author's own trials and tribulations as a mom, as well as stories from other moms and dads on their own parenting journeys.
So get the kids in bed, grab a glass of wine and something sweet from your hidden stash of goodies (we all have one of those, too), and crack open Tatted Mom's Guide to NOT Screwing Up Your Kids. Your mom-sanity will thank you.

Tatted Mom Guide to NOT Screwing Up Your Kids eBook Morgan Moss Reviews
I am a regular reader of Morgan's blog, The Inklings of Life. I greatly enjoy her parenting posts as I am a mother of two (a 7 year old and 9 year old) myself. She is outspoken, creative, does not mince words, and doesn't suffer fools gladly. She is a real person whose advice is genuine because unlike some people who write advice books she, like most of us, has learned the hard way.
If you are a person who is greatly offended by others' differing opinions, you may not enjoy this book. However, this is the reason I loved it! I didn't agree with everything she said in the book, but I'm ok with that.It helps to see other sides of issues too. Also, after years of reading parenting books that seem to be chastising me for everything I've done wrong, it was refreshing to read one that said it is ok to make mistakes, and to do things my own way. It is in fact encouraged, because how else will children learn to handle mistakes of their own later on if their parents are never wrong?
I also like that Morgan encourages taking what parts of her advice work for you, instead of being upset with people who don't blindly follow her word as canon. The baby parts of the book don't really apply to me right now, but there were a lot of "Oh thank god, I'm not the ONLY one" moments. I feel ready to face the preteen years with my kids with the tips I read about. I also really liked the sections on letting toddlers explore their environment, how to handle when your kids start lying, and how to keep your kids somewhat unplugged. I want to photo copy the whole of chapter 7 ("Fixing more than Macaroni and Cheese")and staple it to a few people I know who endlessly whine when their kids won't eat anything but mac and cheese and chicken nuggets.
This is a must have, affordable, USEFUL read!!
I'm not even sure where to start praising this book. It is hands-down the BEST parenting book I've ever read. When I was pregnant with my first kid, I read every parenting book I could get my hands on. When I was pregnant with my second, I read them all again. I was at the end of my third pregnancy when this book came out. I read it in one day, and instead of rolling my eyes at every page (like I did with the re-read of those other parenting books), I found myself literally laughing out loud and totally agreeing with her stories and methods. When you're pregnant with or raising your first child, you think everything should be perfect and by-the-book. THIS is the book that you should go by. THIS is the book that I will give to all of my first-time mom friends at their baby showers. THIS is the book I wish I had my first go-round. I also follow her blog 'The Inklings of Life' (a definite must-read as well). She is not only hilarious, but she is real. There is no sugarcoating anything, there is no holding back, and there is no mistaking that this is a woman who knows what she's talking about. Finally, there's a book that is honest about parenting. It's not all sunshine and roses. It's life, and she helps you through it with wit, sarcasm, and highly effective methods for handling just about any issue you may encounter. I truly hope she writes more of these as she continues on her parenting journey, because this is the first parenting book that I've read that isn't condescending, helps you remember that you are not alone, and will have you laughing (out of range of your kids, of course) at the things kids try to pull over on us.
Moss is a wonderfully clever writer! Her realism is refreshing and the book is entertaining.
Very funny and useful book! You will laugh while learning some useful parenting tips!
Being a soon to be mom, and plenty tatted, I was expecting more edgy but not unsafe ideas. Many of the ideas Morgan presents are just plain unsafe. She belittles safety precautions and basically says whatever you feel like is right. I have a real problem when that's increasing your child's risk for SIDs. I don't know. Her advice on the older kids was good, but as far as babies are concerned, her information made me very uncomfortable. She's kind of contradictory -- talking about family coming first after she apparently left hers, then about how they don't swear and are generally very conservative. Meh. I've read better books. Read "It's Really 10 Months" way better. http//smile./Its-Really-Months-Delivering-Pregnancy-ebook/dp/B00EY363HI/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1412991818&sr=1-1&keywords=it%27s+really+10+months
I absolutely love the way Morgan writes. It is as if she is sitting right there with you sipping coffee, chatting it up about kids! Adore that she had her kids illustrate the book, and she drew for the cover and such! Amazing! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has kids, or is going to have kids. Even if they have older kids, it is such a good read, it will have you giggling and "uh-huh'ing" all the way. Thanks Morgan! I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!
